Love...evoL

We all know of certain words that spell ironically different words when you spell them inverted.   Like the word dog.  Dog means something  to us and is recognizable as soon as you see it.  Spell it backwards and you get God which is also instantly recognizable.   I have a friend of mine who stops in to see me usually monthly and he reminded me of this when we talked about how as new dog owners they tend to open doors that might otherwise not have opened at all.   I told him how the new dog opened up new channels in life we would have missed out on without the dog experience. FYI... Marly is our "pandemic dog" which we finally relented to get after several try's at the local dog shelter.   She is now besties with Remi, a beautiful chocolate lab belonging to Alex and Brooke.   She has unlimited energy and will constantly push to get tennis balls lobbed out into the yard until my arm is about to call off.   Remi is like a cruiser on the ocean.  Powerful, sleek and unrelenting in the pursuit of the tennis ball.   Marly is more like a tug boat.  Quick to assist and push you around a little to help you stay on point.

Dog's are naturally curious and love to explore.  They like to wander about meeting new people and other animals.  In most cases it's without invitation and spontaneous. In that moment of spontaneity is where the magic can happen and as my friend pointed out it is DOG that become GOD like in connecting us to other people and relationships.

DOG = GOD

So, I got to thinking about other words and their hidden meanings when spelled backwards.

Start with some simple names like...

BOB = BOB  so this seems redundant and we will move on. Bob we still love you!

DON = NOD which seems boring and reminds me of what I do when I am about to fall asleep.

I NOD off ... LoL

Let's talk about the word LOVE.  Love is in the air this week.  Our son Alex is getting married on Friday... to his sweetheart Brooke.  After a year of having to pause due to a global pandemic... it's game on for July 30th 2021!   So it is true... Love is patient... sometimes you have to pause... and let time pass... for Love.

LOVE = EVOL  So there is some deep meaning here.  Evol...lends itself to the word EVOLVE.  I just looked this word up on Google as a point of confirmation to my point. see below

Sure enough I have found what I had hoped here.  "develop gradually" .  Love takes time to evolve and so we see that today with Brooke and Alex .   They have evolved into Love... it takes time, patience, effort.

It really all started with Brooke and my daughter Julia.  They were close friends and loved to play volleyball and  hang out together.   I am imagining that at some point Alex took interest in Brooke but early on there were other distractions like high school sports and his buddies.  We all have connectors in life.  People in our lives that connect us to others.  Julia is a connector in this equation.

   J + B = A + B ?

I have a connector story in my life too.  His name is Ed Youdell.  Met him my first day of being on my own  at Central Michigan University.  He walked into my dorm room and knew one of my assigned roommates and later that night we all bonded at the Cabin Bar with our new found friends.

The Cabin Bar

He later on was instrumental in connecting me to my future wife Lisa.  We both knew a friend who was having a summer get together while he was in town visiting my family.   I didn't want to go.  We had plans to go to Windsor that night.  A run across the border for adventure.  That never happened because... well I met Lisa that night.

This is important because while we were living our lives in the early 80's at CMU moving about in our busy lives we were among people that at the time we didn't know we would meet in the future.   My wife, my future brother in law's , sister in law and our future kids best friends?

Fast forward to to 2010 our future lives now have kids living their lives in Lake Orion Michigan.  Alex becomes buddies with Ryan Singles.  They play sports together they hang out together.  They become roommates and enter into the Civil Engineering curriculum together at Michigan State.   And so through that Love of friendship we are connected and meet Ryan's parents Kevin and Debbie Singles.  Ironically as we got to know each other... where did you go to school... Oh really CMU?  Same for us... where did you live... oh really we lived there too!  And so we are connected.  We lived in the same quad at the same time and no idea we were on a course to meet in the future.

Ironically there are connectors out there for all have.  Who is your connector?

In computer science, a linked data structure is a data structure which consists of a set of data records (nodes) linked together and organized by references. The link between data can also be called a connector.

Let's get back to Alex and Brooke.  I mentioned earlier they both went away to school at Michigan State.  Alex first and then Brooke followed.  And so both worked hard at completing their education and dedication to their school work.  But then the time between that is your life and that is where you evolve.  They EVOLVED in LOVE

And so patiently waiting through the pandemic of 2020... here we are today thankful and honored to witness the LOVE that has EVOLVED. 😎

Cheers to the newly weds!   Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Douglas and Brooke Rae Sherman
